Teaching Key and Difficult Points：
Students can get the main idea and details of the dialogue through listening and use the sentence patterns to talk about ways of learning English well.
Major Steps：
Step 1 Pre-listening（5 minutes）
The teacher asks students to discuss in groups about how to learn English well, then leads the whole class to conclude the usual ways of learning English, such as looking up dictionaries, listening to English songs, watching English movies, etc.
（Justification：The discussion arouses students5 interest in the topic of the listening material and helps them better understand the dialogue.）
Step 2 While-listening （10 minutes）
（1）Listening for gist
The teacher asks students to listen to the tape and pay attention to the begining of the dialogue and tell the main idea of the material.
（2）Listening for details
The teacher asks students to listen to the tape again and list all the ways of learning English mentioned^ then asks several students to answer and other students to supply and write the answers on blackboard.
（Suggested answers：watching English movies, keeping a diary in English, studying with a group, practicing conversations with friends, reading aloud to practice pronunciation, looking up new words in a dictionary.）
After that, the teacher asks students to listen to the tape for a third time and fill in the blanks：
The teacher checks the answers and asks students to use the sentence patterns "Do you …by ,..?/Do you … that way?/Do you ever ...?/What about .?”to ask others' behaviors.
（Justification：This step trains students' ability of listening for gist and specific information. Filling in blanks helps students master the sentence patterns.）
Step 3 Post-listening （5 minutes）
The teacher divides students into groups of four. One acts as an excellent senior student and the other three act as junior students who seek for advice of learning English well. The teacher asks them to make a dialogue using the phrases on the blackboard and sentence patterns “Do you learn English by ...?/Do you learn English that way?/Do you have ever …?/What about ...?”.
（Justification：Role play helps students consolidate the sentence patterns and phrases they have learned in the dialogue. Besides, their abilities of speaking and communicating can be improved.）
