　　Public holidays

　　1) What public holidays do you have in your country?

　　There are many public holidays in China, for example, the Spring Festival, the Tomb-Sweeping Day, the Mid- Autumn Day, the National Day, and so on.

　　2) Do people in your country celebrate foreign festivals?

　　Yes, they do. For example in the Valentine’s Day, the young couples will rush to the cinema, and the young boys will send the roses to their girlfriends to show their love. Every corner in the street is filled up with romantic atmosphere. Actually, it is the result of the cultural integration.

　　3) What do you usually do during public holidays?

　　I always travel during the public holidays. We usually have a few days off, so I usually choose to travel to some scenic spots nearby. For example, I went to Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province in the last National Day holiday, Although the trip made me feel tired, I do feel that my horizon was broadened and minds got relaxed during the holiday.

　　4) What did you do during the last public holiday?

　　I went to Beijing during the last holiday. I went there with a group of my classmates after finishing the final examinations. It was a long and exciting trip, during which I witnessed the modern and historical sides of our capital city。 The trip was really memorable.

　　5) Do you think public holidays are important?

　　Yes, I think so. The purpose of the public holiday is to encourage our Chinese people to remember our history and culture. For example, the purpose of the National holiday is to commemorate the endeavors that the soldiers have made to the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. So, I think the public holidays are important.

　　6) Why do we need public holidays?

　　On the one hand, the history and culture behind the public holiday will let our younger generation remember the ancestors and the history. On the other hand, we need the public holidays to take a good rest and relieve previous stress from work.
