Firstly, I found it difficult to understand what I read because most English words have more than one meaning. Besides, I found it difficult to write idiomatic English or translate Chinese into idiomatic English. Finally, my oral English was weak because I had no opportunity to communicate with native English speakers. Although I often read aloud, this didn't prove to be an effective way to improve my spoken English. But I didn't lose heart in overcoming these obstacles. I tackled English vocabulary in two ways. 　　With the rapid development of higher education in China, more high school graduates admitted, exclusively the government can no longer finance universities and students must pay at least partly for their schooling.

　　There are various ways for a student to pay his tuition and fees. To begin with, if the student is quite excellent in his studies, he can apply for scholarship. Secondly, especially in China, he can always depend on his parents for all kinds of expenditure, including living allowances. Then, he can choose to turn to the bank to for a loan to pay his education, which he can repay after graduation. If he finds the entire above not desirable, he still has another road to take-to do a part-time job and work his way through college.

　　In my case, I am fortunate enough to be born into a well-to-do family and have no difficulty having my parents pay for all my fees.

　　as a college student, I dislike a totally dependent existence, so I am working part-time as a newspaper-boy to help support myself. And I am still studying hard, hoping to win a scholarship one day so that I can be wholly self-reliant and independent.
