　　The Importance of Inheriting the Traditional Virtues

　　As we can see from the picture above, when the boy was small, his father helped him wash his feet to show a father’s love and care. When the boy grew up and his father grew old, he took care of his father by washing his father’s feet. The picture illustrates a long-treasured virtue in China——respecting the old and caring for the young.

　　It is well-known that there are many traditional virtues in China, among which respecting the old and caring for the young is regarded as the most important one. When a person is a little baby, it is his parents who should take the responsibility to take care of him. However, as he grows into his adulthood, his parents surely have become old. At this time, what his parents need is his care and love. Otherwise, they would feel lonely and abandoned.

　　It goes without saying that the traditional virtue needs to be passed down from generation to generation. Respecting the old and caring for the young is only one of the many traditional virtues of China, and all traditional virtues should be inherited by young people. 　　如上圖所示，小男孩很小的時候他爸爸幫他洗腳來表現對他的愛和關心。當這個男孩逐漸長大，他爸爸逐漸變老的時候，他通過幫他爸爸洗腳來照顧他。這幅圖表現了中國一個長期受到珍視的美德——尊老愛幼。

　　我們都知道中國有很多傳統(tǒng)美德，其中尊老愛幼被視作是最重要的。當孩子小的時候，他父母有責任照顧他。然而，當孩于逐漸長大成人，他的父母就會變老。這時，老人需要的是孩子的關心和愛。否則，老人就會有孤獨和被拋棄的感覺。
