　　燈籠(lantern)又稱為燈彩，起源于1800多年前的西漢時(shí)期。在古代，燈籠的主要作用是照明�，F(xiàn)在，燈籠綜合了繪畫藝術(shù)、剪紙(paper cutting )、紙?jiān)�、刺縫(seam)等工藝，已經(jīng)變成了一種供收藏與欣賞的傳統(tǒng)工藝品。每逢佳節(jié)慶典到處都可以看到燈籠，特別是元宵節(jié)和中秋節(jié)，人們都掛起象征團(tuán)圓意義的紅燈籠，來營造一種喜慶的氛圍。后來在中國燈籠就成了喜慶的象征。

　　Lanterns, also known as colored lights, originatedfrom the Western Han Dynasty of more than 1,800years ago. They were mainly used for lighting inancient times, while nowadays they have alreadybecome a kind of traditional art and craft for collection and appreciation, combining variouskinds of crafts, such as painting, paper cutting, paper crafts and seam. On festivals andcelebrations, lanterns can be seen almost everywhere;especially on the Lantern Festivals andthe Mid-Autumn Festivals, red lanterns are hung to express the meaning of reunion and createa joyous atmosphere.
