　　進(jìn)入耶魯大學(xué)的校園，看到莘莘學(xué)子青春洋溢的臉龐，呼吸著書香濃郁的空氣，我不由回想起40年前我在北京清華大學(xué)時的美好時光，老師們對我的教誨，同學(xué)們給我的啟發(fā)，我至今仍受用不盡。

　　耶魯大學(xué)以悠久的發(fā)展歷史、獨(dú)特的辦學(xué)風(fēng)格、卓著的學(xué)術(shù)成就聞名于世。如果時光能夠倒流幾十年，我真希望成為你們中的一員。耶魯大學(xué)校訓(xùn)強(qiáng)調(diào)追求光明和真理，這符合人類進(jìn)步的法則，也符合每個有志青年的心愿。

　　Coming to the Yale campus with its distinctive academic flavor, and looking at the eager young faces in the audience, I cannot but recall my great experience studying at Qinghua University in Beijing 40 years ago. I still benefit greatly from the instruction and my interaction with other students.

　　Yale is renowned for its long history, unique way of teaching and excellence in academic pursuit. If time could go back several decades, I would really like to be a student of Yale just like you. Yale's motto “Light and Truth,” which is a calling for human progress, represents the aspiration of every motivated young man and woman.
