A Chinese university has begun sending reports on its students directly to their parents in an attempt to boost results.

　　The move by Shenzhen University, the latest of a growing number of adult academic institutions to dispatch reports to parents, comes after the government demanded students try harder.

　　"We are hoping you and us can work together to help the students to learn and develop," read the university letter addressed to parents, which contained explanatory notes on the grades and contact details for professors.

　　The college's decision to send transcripts straight to parents has sparked heated debate online.

　　這所大學(xué)直接向父母郵寄成績(jī)單的決定在網(wǎng)上引發(fā)了熱議。

　　Some netizens argue that grades are private so that schools have no right to do so, while some others believe that parents, as the "investors" for the tuition fee, have the right to know about students' performance.

　　一些網(wǎng)友認(rèn)為成績(jī)屬于隱私，學(xué)校無(wú)權(quán)這么做，而另一些網(wǎng)友則認(rèn)為，家長(zhǎng)作為支付學(xué)費(fèi)的“投資人”，有權(quán)知道學(xué)生的在校表現(xiàn)。

　　Guo Yuanjie, an associate researcher at China's National Institute of Education Sciences, believes it is necessary and reasonable for colleges and universities to send transcripts to parents at present.

　　中國(guó)教育科學(xué)研究院副研究員郭元婕認(rèn)為，目前高校將成績(jī)單寄給家長(zhǎng)是必要的、合理的。

　　"Many students wouldn't tell their grades to parents just because they thought they have grown up. It led to some serious problems in some students' study, and parents do not know how their children are performing in school until they are finally told to drop out."

　　“很多學(xué)生覺(jué)得自己長(zhǎng)大了，所以他們就不會(huì)將成績(jī)告知家長(zhǎng)。這導(dǎo)致了一些學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)出現(xiàn)了嚴(yán)重的問(wèn)題，家長(zhǎng)們不知道孩子在學(xué)校表現(xiàn)如何，直到他們最終被要求退學(xué)�！�

　　As for some netizens who believe that grades are private, Guo responded that these are not privacy issue. Peers and teachers will know the grades as soon as them come out. "The so-called privacy is just hiding the parents," said Guo.

　　In fact, Shenzhen University is not the only college in China which sends grades straight to parents. The Sun Yat-Sen University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Sichuan Conservatory Of Music, Nanchang University, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and many other universities also send all or part of the students' transcripts to parents. The East China Jiaotong University had been sending grade letters to parents for the past two decades.

　　事實(shí)上，深圳大學(xué)并不是中國(guó)唯一一所直接把成績(jī)單寄給家長(zhǎng)的大學(xué)。中山大學(xué)、西安交通大學(xué)、四川音樂(lè)學(xué)院、南昌大學(xué)、江西財(cái)經(jīng)大學(xué)等多所高校也將學(xué)生的全部或部分成績(jī)單寄給家長(zhǎng)。過(guò)去20年來(lái)，華東交通大學(xué)一直在給家長(zhǎng)們寄成績(jī)單。
