　　如何用英語(yǔ)翻譯不確定的數(shù)字?

　　1　表示大約數(shù)目

　　大約數(shù)目指的是圍繞特定數(shù)目、以及比特定數(shù)目或多或少的數(shù)目。漢語(yǔ)在數(shù)詞前加“約”、“約 計(jì)”、“大約”、“大概”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“左右”、“上下”等詞表示。英語(yǔ)在 數(shù)詞前加 about, around，some，approximately，roughly，more or less，in the neighbourhood of等詞或詞組，或在數(shù)詞后加or so，or thereabout，in the rough等詞組表示，例如：

　　a) about/around five o’clock大約五點(diǎn)鐘/五點(diǎn)鐘左右

　　b) about/around/some/approximately/roughly/more or less/in the neighbourhood of twenty people 大約二十人/二十人左右

　　2　 表示“少于”的數(shù)目

　　表示比特定數(shù)目少或小的數(shù)目，漢語(yǔ)在數(shù)詞前加“少于”、“小于”、“低于”、“不到”、“不 及”、“不足”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“以下”、“以?xún)?nèi)”、“以里”等詞表示。英語(yǔ)在數(shù)詞前加fewer than， less than，under，below，within等詞或詞組表示，例如：

　　a) fewer than/less than/under/below/within one thousand yuan少于一千元/不到一千元/一千元以下

　　b) below zero degrees Celsius 攝氏零度以下

　　3　 表示“差不多”的數(shù)目

　　差不多，是一種特殊的表 示“少于”的數(shù)目的方法，接近特定數(shù)目或僅差一點(diǎn)。漢語(yǔ)在數(shù)詞前加“近”、“將近”、“接近”、“幾乎”、“差不多”、“差一點(diǎn)”、“差一點(diǎn)不到”等詞表 示。英語(yǔ)在數(shù)詞前加nearly，almost，toward，close on等詞或詞組表示， 例如：

　　a) nearly/almost/toward fifty years old將近五十歲/差一點(diǎn)五十歲

　　b) nearly/almost/close on one hundred yuan將近一百元/差不多一百元

　　4　表示“多于”的數(shù)目

　　表示比特定數(shù)目多或大的數(shù)目，漢語(yǔ)在數(shù)詞前加“多于”、“大于”、 “高于”、 “超過(guò)”等詞，或在數(shù)詞后加“多”、“來(lái)”、“幾”、“余”、“以上”等詞表示。英語(yǔ)在數(shù)詞前加more than ，over，above，upwards of等詞或詞組表示，或用在數(shù)詞后加and more，odd，and odd等詞或詞組表示，例如：

　　a) more than/over/above/upwards of a hundred yuan one hundred yuan and more/odd/and odd一百多元/一百來(lái)元

　　b) above thirty-two degrees Fahrenheit華氏32度以上

　　5　表示“介于"的數(shù)目

　　表示介于兩個(gè)特定數(shù)目之間 的數(shù)目，漢語(yǔ)用“到”、“至”等詞連接兩個(gè)數(shù)詞，或用“介于…之間”表示。英語(yǔ)用from…to;(anywhere)between…and…表示，例 如：

　　a) from five to six days; between five and six days五至六天

　　b) from eight hundred to nine hundred kilometres anywhere between eight hundred and nine hundred kilometres(介于) 八百到九百公里 (之間)

　　6　 表示“相鄰”的數(shù)目

　　連用兩個(gè)相鄰的數(shù)字，表示一個(gè)不確定數(shù)目。英語(yǔ)用or連接兩個(gè)相鄰數(shù)字來(lái)表示。注意“三三兩 兩”是特殊的“相鄰”的數(shù)目。表示“兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上”等，英語(yǔ)在數(shù)詞后加or more表示， 例如：

　　a) two or three兩三個(gè)

　　b) sixty or seventy六七十

　　c) three thousand or four thousand三四千

　　d) by twos and threes 三三兩兩

　　e) two or more兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上

　　7　表示“數(shù)十”等數(shù)目

　　表示“數(shù)十”、“數(shù)百”、 “數(shù)千”等不確定數(shù)目，英語(yǔ)在ten/dozen/score/hundred/thousand/million/billion等數(shù)詞的復(fù)數(shù)形式后加 of 構(gòu)成，例如：

　　a) tens of(20—99);dozens of(24—99); scores of(40-99) 數(shù)十/幾十/好幾十

　　b) hundreds of (200—999);several hundred 數(shù)百/數(shù)以百計(jì)/幾百/好幾百/成百

　　c) thousands of (2，000—9，999);several thousand 數(shù)千/數(shù)以千計(jì)/幾千/好幾千/成千

　　d) tens of thousands of (20，000—99，999) 數(shù)萬(wàn)/數(shù)以萬(wàn)計(jì)/幾萬(wàn)/好幾萬(wàn)

　　e) hundreds of thousands of (200，000—999，999) 數(shù)十萬(wàn)/幾十萬(wàn)/好幾十萬(wàn)

　　f) millions of (2，000，000—9，999，999) 數(shù)百萬(wàn)/幾百萬(wàn)/好幾百萬(wàn)

　　g) tens of millions of (20，000，000-99，999，999) 數(shù)千萬(wàn)/幾千萬(wàn)/好幾千萬(wàn)

　　h) hundreds of millions of (200，000，000-999，999，999) 數(shù)億/幾億/好幾億

　　i) 數(shù)十億/幾十億/好幾十億 billions of(2，000，000，000—9，999，999，999)
