尤里·加加林——太空第 一人 Yuri Gagarin——First Man in Space

　　Yuri A. Gagarin was born on a collective farm in a region west of Moscow, Russia on March 9th, 1934. His father was a carpenter[木匠]. Yuri attended the local school for six years and continued his education at vocational[職業(yè)的] and technical schools.

　　1934年3月9日，尤里·A·加加林在俄羅斯莫斯科以西地區(qū)的一個(gè)集體農(nóng)場出生，其父是一名木匠。尤里在當(dāng)?shù)貙W(xué)校讀了六年書，隨后在職業(yè)技術(shù)學(xué)校繼續(xù)進(jìn)修。

　　Yuri Gagarin joined the Russian Air Force in 1955 and graduated with honors[優(yōu)等成績] from the Soviet Air Force Academy in 1957. Soon afterward, he became a military fighter pilot. By 1959, he had been selected for cosmonaut training as part of the first group of USSR cosmonauts.

　　Yuri Gagarin flew only one space mission. On April 12th, 1961 he became the first human to orbit Earth. Gagarin’s spacecraft, Vostok 1, circled Earth at a speed of 27,400 kilometers per hour. The flight lasted 108 minutes.

　　尤里·加加林只執(zhí)行過一次宇航任務(wù)。1961年4月12日，他成為圍繞地球軌道飛行的第 一人。加加林乘坐的“東方1號”宇宙飛船以每小時(shí)27400千米的速度圍繞地球飛行，整個(gè)過程持續(xù)了108分鐘。

　　Once in orbit, Yuri Gagarin had no control over his spacecraft. Vostok’s reentry[重新進(jìn)入] was controlled by a computer program sending radio commands to the space capsule[太空艙]. Although the controls were locked, a key had been placed in a sealed envelope in case an emergency situation made it necessary for Yuri Gagarin to take control. As was planned, Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin ejected[彈射出] after reentry into Earth’s atmosphere[大氣] and landed by parachute[降落傘].

　　進(jìn)入軌道后，尤里·加加林就無法控制他的宇宙飛船。電腦程序向太空艙發(fā)出無線電指令，指揮“東方1號”返回。雖然太空船內(nèi)的控制器被鎖上，但在一個(gè)密封信封里存放著一把鑰匙——以便發(fā)生緊急狀況時(shí)，必須由尤里·加加林控制飛船。按照原定計(jì)劃，宇航員尤里·加加林在返回地球大氣層之后彈出太空艙，利用降落傘降落。

　　Yuri Gagarin died on March 27th, 1968 when the MiG-15 he was piloting crashed[墜毀] near Moscow. At the time of his death, Yuri Gagarin was in training for a second space mission.
